Varsity Coach - Scott Curtis

My dad was a Master Sergeant in the US Army and a great coach.  My
brother was a lacrosse coach for 25 years and built his team into Texas’s
first
division I program.  I’ve coached my two sons’ in just about
everything…including lacrosse.  I did not play lacrosse until I was in my
20’s, but I fell in love with it immediately. I spent 25 years working in
NASA’s Mission Control, but coaching is in my blood and something I
enjoy.

We have everything a coach would want…talent, athletes and good
attitudes.

My primary objective is to help build great young women, who have
everything they need to succeed when they move on from this program.
Sports provides an unequaled opportunity to learn life’s lessons and my

goal is to use the Gulf Coast Girls Lacrosse program to encourage
learning…on and off the field.

I intend to use what time I have with the team as best possible.  In time,
we will build a little grit and come to understand that what they get out
of this is directly proportional to what they put into it.  There is room for
the casually interested and those hoping for a scholarship, but they are
the key.

We will enjoy ourselves.  We will win, and we will lose.  We will do it all as
a team.  I insist that they and I show respect for ourselves, our opponents
and officials, and the game.

Thank you for loaning me your most valuable commodity.  If we are
successful, your time and money will be well spent.  It will take all of us.

4U HEAD COACH - Christian Wilson

Christian Wilson is a first year lacrosse coach with the GCGLA.  His oldest daughter played her first year with the club last season on the 4U team.  He is a  licensed US Lacrosse youth coach.  Prior to moving to Texas, he was a licensed youth soccer coach with the Cherry Hill Soccer Club for four years at both the recreational and travel levels.

The Wilson Family recently moved to the area last summer by way of Cherry Hill, NJ.  Christian is currently serving on active duty as a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Coast Guard.  He and his wonderful wife, Jennifer, have three daughters.  He recently celebrated 20 years of active duty.

Christian Wilson first picked up a lacrosse stick in the sixth grade.  His family had recently moved to Northern Virginia where lacrosse was already a popular sport in the Washington D.C. Metro area.  He began playing for a small start-up club, Lake Ridge Youth Lacrosse, in its first year as an organization.  He went on to play through middle school and on into high school.  His freshman year he played on both the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams as a starting defenseman for Woodbridge Senior High School.  He was twice named to the Jefferson Cup All-Star Team during consecutive trips to the Virginia State high school tournament.  As a team captain, he helped lead the Vikings to the State title his senior year in 1996.  He went on to attend George Mason University prior to enlisting in the United States Coast Guard.

Coaching Philosophy:
Foster a love for the sport of lacrosse.
Teach teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Develop and reinforce the foundation of fundamental skills essential to the success of the player.
Preparation for advanced skills and tactics instrumental at upper level play.
Have fun.
